Football credentials:
-
1. Since joining the BBFFL
in 1997, Purple Reign has become a franchise with one of the most
victories in the league, made the playoffs every year except
for 2004, and won three BBFFL
Championship in 1999, 2002, and 2003.
- 2.
Registered football
official for Michigan High School Athletic Association
since 2000.
- 3.
Lifelong Viking
fan since coming to the U.S. in 1980.
- 4.
In high school, converted a neighbor street into a nurf football field
by painting the endzone with "VIKINGS" that looked so professional;
got caught and had to clean it up as a part of court-ordered community
service.
Keys
to FF success: Be diligent, disciplined, and decisive with waiver
wire, and look for Win-Win trades. Draft builds foundation, but that's
a given. What takes place after the draft shapes a team into a playoff
contender. Oh, and a great deal of luck.
Quote:
"More football is GOOD." - "Nasty" Nestor Aparicio
Anti-quote:
"If a man watches three football games in a row, he should be declared
legally dead." - Erma Bombeck
Pre-game
ritual: I just throw on an authentic Tommy Kramer Viking jersey
(#9 Rocks), drive down to Damon's, order a soft drink, and look for
Packer fans to dog on.
Favorite
team: GO VIKINGS! Growing up in Minnesota, you've gotta bleed purple.
I know they've choked hard in the playoffs, but hey, at least they keep
their fans involved until the postseason.
Favorite player(s):
- 1.
QB Tommy Kramer: Two-Minute Tommy instilled fear in the opposing DB
when he was on, though at times he instilled fury in the fans by forcing
untimely interceptions.
- 2.
RB Stephen Davis: Just because the FA acquisition made me look good
during the 1999 Championship run.
- 3.
CF KIR-BEE Puckett: How can I ever forget the game 6 of the 1991 World
Series? "And we will see you....tomorrow night!"
Favorite
FF Team Names: Flaming Hairdressers (We miss you, Bob!).
Worst call: Drafting Priest Holmes in the 4th round in 2001 and
cutting him loose in Week 3, after which he exploded BIG TIME...and
the rest is history. He is still haunting me in 2002. Lesson learned:
be patient with early season FA moves.
Redraft or Keeper: Keeper hands down, if set up correctly. With
our keeper, it really hasn't helped owners build a dynasty because the
system encourages owners to acquire 2 new franchise-level players every
year. If anything, our keeper really forces owners to draft and plan
your trade moves with the future in mind.
If
I were Paul Tagliabue for a day: I'd ban owners from relocating
teams nor discussing contraction forever -- oops, wrong sports.
Dream
Job: Officiate as the Back Judge in an NFL game and see how much
I can keep up with Randy Moss streaking down the post pattern on a 60-yard
bomb.
